Unlike ordinary metal detectors, which detect all metal,
the FERROTEC® 350 only responds to items with ferromagnetic content (iron
and steel).
The FERROTEC® 350 offers outstanding performance with detection
of objects down to 1.5 metres, sometimes better.
Detection of cast iron pipes is even possible particularly if they run north
south. |
|
Principle of Operation of the Ferrotec Valve Locator: |
 |
Buried iron objects disturb the earth’s
magnetic fields which surround them. The magnetic field at the end of the
sensor rod, sensor A, is not the same as at sensor B; it is the difference
in these levels that is measured and allows the FERROTEC® 350
to locate objects that are buried far deeper than a conventional metal detector
can. |
|
Using the Ferrotec Metal Detector |
 |
- Differences in the earth's magnetic field increase with proximity
to the object. This causes an indication in the form of a rise in the
loudspeaker noise and is also shown in the bar graph display. When the
pitch is at the highest or the bar graph largest, the sensor rod is
pointing at a ferromagnetic object.
- With its stick design search head poking about through bushes and
scrub is a lot easier than with a circular headed metal detector.
