Aquaphon AF 100 - A Water Leak Locator and a Pipe-Cable Location and Tracing Tool

How many times have you found that utilities marked on network plans are not where they should be when you get into the field?
In order to find the leak in a pipe the first thing you need to find is the pipe itself, so we designed a version of the Aquaphon A100 Ground Microphone which is also a pipe locator and tracer. This instrument is called the Aquaphon AF100.The AF100 has all the advantages of the A100 when used as a Ground Microphone, (click here to see the A100), with the added functions of:

AQUAPHON AF 100 FEATURES

More than a Cable Avoidance Tool

The Aquaphon AF100 is far more than just a Cable Avoidance Tool (C.A.T.)
The Aquaphon AF100 shows you:
  • Depth To Service: Following the correct service is imperative. By measuring the depth of what you are tracing you gain more confidence. A water pipe is unlikely to be buried at 300mm but a telecommunication cable may well be.
  • Minimum & Maximum detection methods (Peak and Null). More accuracy.
  • Six reception frequencies including:
    - Radio - This range picks up re-radiated VLF radio signals that are in the air - 50/60Hz - mains electricity frequency
  • Line location arrows - Indicate if the pipe to the left or right or immediately below.
  • Gain control: Change the sensitivity to hone in on the service being traced

Signal Generators and Accessories

The technique that the AF100 utilises to locate metallic services is to detect the electromagnetic field that surrounds the service or re-radiated radio signals. To be detectable by the A3-S the service under test must be carrying current or be re-radiating radio signals. If there is no current or no re-radiated radio signals you will not detect the service. It is far safer to generate a signal and trace the consequent electromagnetic field. To produce this signal we provide 2 signal generators

The signal generator (genny) G1

  • 3 frequencies with a class beating (up to) 50W
  • Variable - for times when you do not need high power
  • Internal rechargeable battery, may be run from a vehicle’s 12V output.

The signal generator (genny) G2

  • 2W signal generator with three output frequencies
  • Alkaline batteries
  • Variable output

Pipe Tracing Reels - To Locate Plastic Pipes

Non metallic pipes cannot conduct electromagnetic signals so it is necessary to introduce a fibreglass reel with a conductive core to conduct the electromagnetic signal produced by the signal generator.

  • 60m Ø6mm
  • 60m Ø 4.5mm
  • 100m Ø

End of Pipe Tracing - To Locate Blockages in Pipes

Sondes are small electromagnetic signal generators. Sometimes referred to as mice ,
they are attached onto the end of the reel and are detected by the receiver
